Fifth National Biennial Award Function for Grassroots Technological Innovations and Outstanding Traditional Knowledge

IARI, Pusa, New Delhi - 110018 November 18-19, 2009

NIF's 5 th campaign, which ended on 31 st January 2007, got the overwhelming response from different parts of the country. It took around 2 years to NIF to evaluate the entries (covering innovations, ideas and traditional knowledge) with the help of scientific institutions and eminent experts. The entire exercise resulted in declaration of the 5 th award winners after proper benchmarking, due diligence, prior art and patent searches.

The 5 th National Biennial Award Function of NIF will be held on 18 th November, 2009 at BP Pal Auditorium, Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, East Patel Nagar, New Delhi 110018. Honorable President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will give away the awards to the winners of the competition from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm.

An exhibition on awarded and promising grassroots technologies will be held from 2:00 pm onwards on 18th November which will continue till 2:00 pm on 19th November, 2009.

NIF invites you to come forward and join us in this innovation movement. Together let us make India Innovative and a global leader in sustainable technologies. To get your association and support, we have tried to link you with creative brains of the community under following strata :

General Public : Any Indian citizen can request his/her participation to view the award function on site and also to visit the exhibition at award@nifindia.org with subject line as “Confirmation – Public”. Seating will be on First Come First Serve basis. For the security reasons, a photo identity card is required at the venue. No eatables or luggage allowed inside the auditorium.

Students : Students are specially welcome to visit the function as well as innovative exhibition. Schools are encouraged to register their participation in advance to enable groups of students for a visit. For the groups of students, NIF would provide a guide to explain the innovative technologies to the students. Students will also have the opportunity to live interact with the innovators and awardees

Scientists and Experts : As a scientist or technical expert, you could assist us in adding value, improvement, R&D or technical expertise to innovations towards technology incubation. You can become a valuable part of this value chain. NIF would be happy to provide every assistance and supporting platform if suggestions of improvement are accepted.

Entrepreneurs and Angel Investors : As a potential investor, you could choose to fund the enterprises built around innovations or as an entrepreneur, you could take up innovations from our product portfolio for developing new businesses and ventures. You can visit the exhibition to see the live demo of various products displayed there. Complete specification, patent information and features will be explained by the NIF expert and the innovator himself. Media : There is no way we can justify the documentation of grassroots innovations without their proper diffusion and publicity. You could help us in dissemination of innovation details, conduct events, use online and offline resources, printed and electronic media to increase awareness of innovations that could change lives and increase demand all over the country. A press meet is organized on 18 th November, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 1.30 pm at the venue which will be chaired by Dr. R A Mashelkar, Chairperson, NIF.
